12Sentences.com is inspired by Tim Ferriss' grammar 'deconstruction' method from ‘The 4 Hour Chef' - his book on accelerated learning.

Tim's method includes having a native speaker translate sentences like 'I give John the apple' - to help decode the building blocks of a language.

Tim Ferriss' 12 Sentences to deconstruct 🇮🇱 Hebrew grammar

Translations and audio by Elinorah from speakinghebrew.com. She is a native speaker, a professional Hebrew teacher and podcast host who lives in Jerusalem, Israel. She offers video lessons on her italki page.

Note from Elinorah

Hebrew is written & read from right to left. Every verb in the present tense needs to be conjugated by a gender (masculine, feminine) and a number (singular, plural). In these sentences I have read the masculine first and then the feminine.

1. The apple is red. הַתַּפּוּחַ אָדוֹם
2. It is John’s apple. זֶה הַתַּפּוּחַ שֶׁל ג׳וֹן
3. I give John the apple. / אֲנִי נוֹתֵן לְג׳וֹן אֶת הַתַּפּוּחַ אֲנִי נוֹתֶנֶת לְג׳וֹן אֶת הַתַּפּוּחַ
4. We give him the apple. אֲנַחְנוּ נוֹתְנִים לוֹ אֶת הַתַּפּוּחַ
